SOVEREIGNTY MESSAGE
Cotonou / Lomé, October 08, 2026
To His Excellency the Ambassador of the United States of America to Benin (Cotonou)
Subject: Our Stand in the Light of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Your Excellency,
We acknowledge receipt of your response regarding our request for an audience to present the MMLK-Benin Coordination.
We take due note of it.
However, out of duty to truth and faithfulness to our spiritual Father, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we wish to clarify the following:
Dr. King, whom your great Nation honors, was not a man who sought to please Embassies. He was a man who fearlessly denounced three evils of his time: racism, materialism, and militarism. He denounced the Vietnam War against the White House’s advice. He denounced imperialism. That is why he was assassinated.
The MMLK – The Voice of the Voiceless, which I preside over, is faithful to that King. Not the King of postage stamps and February speeches. The revolutionary, anti-imperialist King who said: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
Our anti-imperialist line is therefore not a posture. It is our conscience. It is our reading of the Gospel and of Martin Luther King.
It will not move. Not for an audience, not for a grant, not for a photo.
We will continue to denounce international imperialism in all its forms, wherever it comes from, as King did. And we will continue to extend our hand to all those, including the American people, who share the thirst for Justice and Dignity.
MMLK-Benin now exists. Not by the grace of a chancellery, but by the will of the Beninese people and the grace of God.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the expression of our distinguished consideration, but free and sovereign.
For the MMLK,
Pastor Edoh K. KOMI
International President – The Voice of the Voiceless
Lomé – Togo
